Last year I had an audition for a praise team that did not go so well. Despite my extensive preparation there were some other circumstances that left me a bit frazzled right before the audition and I was unable to pull myself up and perform at my best. Although I felt possibly not warranted, I was excited to be invited back to re-audition. It made sense to me that this was the next thing I should do having been told that I was supposed to sing, but you can imagine my disappointment when things did not turn out the way I expected, at no one’s fault except my own. Having anxiety about this process I did what I thought was the most logical step, take singing lessons, find a local choir to participate in and join the worship team at my church. This week as I prepare for another audition, I am also preparing my heart and mind not only for the outcome but what it looks like moving forward regardless of the outcome. Put yourself out there and take a step! I’ve heard many times that each step moves you close to your goal, but you have to move. We’re still fresh into the new year and even if things don’t appear to be aligned the way YOU think they should be, you don’t know what will happen next in your journey as you continue to move forward.
